I have 2 huskies and my male backed out of his harness and escaped several times. It has to be pretty tight if he is tied outside. Then the next thing he did was use the clip on the tie out cable to maneuver it to release. The ring on the back of the harness where you clip the dog to the harness is too small and flat of a ring, which enabled him to use it as leverage to simply open the spring on the clip for the cable tie out to open up and release it to let him off the clip and cable.. I had to use a round ring attached to the outside cable clip and then use a climber's carabiner which was light weight, weather proof and large enough that he couldn't squirm to maneuver the clasp to release it. I wish the hook on the back of the harness were larger and round. so the clip on the cable can't be maneuvered to open. Leave it to a husky! :-) I'd also like more padding for the straps and closure clips as they have to be secure enough so they don't back out which causes the buckles to rub against their fur which is much less thick on their belly and chest area. Lastly, it would be nice if the harness came in a pink or yellow for my female and if they both had more reflective areas on them. They wash well which is good since they don't stay clean very long.
We are very pleased with this harness and all of the other products we have purchased from Ruffwear. The quality is top notch and the service is excellent.
Once I figured out how to put the harnesses on and got them adjusted for fit, they are quite easy. The dogs move more freely and their heads are not so hung down with collars. They are learning that these harnesses mean “walkies,” and are starting to like them. The colors are cheerful and are good for visibility of the dogs. And the one with double girths really does prevent the twisting that had happened with all other harnesses I tried on Molly.
