I decided to buy shoes specifically for hiking with my bud. We had a couple long trips that resulted in cut and sore paws. We just used these shoes this weekend on 5 miles of hot and very rough terrain and they worked wonderfully. I had to tighten them every so often and once a shoe came complely off, but that was expected with the velcro. My dog didn't fuss too much and ended the hike with perfect paws. I'm so happy with his purchase because now we can hike all summer together and I don't have to worry about the terrain hurting my little baby. Thank you Ruffwear!!
These boots are wonderful! They're perfect for our needs.
Great idea, can't stay on
Unfortunately, while the quality of the shoe is up to ruffwear standards, even if the paw size is correct for small dogs, the sock/velcro cannot be made tight enough to stay on feet for anything more than a slow walk. Fetch/hiking/running they wil go flying right off for smaller dogs. Probably would be great for dogs with bigger ankles where the velcro goes tight enough to hold on.
Awesome fit, awesome quality!
The boots fit my SD, Maggie perfectly! They covered her duclaw and they stayed on her feet no matter how hard she tried to fling them off. She became comfortable in them extremely quickly and now she wears them for long periods of time with no issues. Given the fact that she is with me 24/7 in extreme heart, cold, and with salt from winter storm sandy, she needed some protection. These are perfect.
I should have bought a size smaller than what I did. I do love them. My girls love them after they get outside and forget they are wearing them. Its extremely muddy these days with some snow. They stay on great with me having to adjust one or two boots. The guck we are walking thru is deep and their feet do get wet inside but not muddy. This is the second pair of boots I have bought for them. They are getting easier to put on, for it's taking some adjusting on how I attempt to put them on. I find its easiest to do with them standing and as if I wear shoeing a house slide them on. They do bother ones foot, due to being to big. Her front foot, think the rubber sole comes up to high in the back and rubs on her dew claw. Adjusting how tight I fasten them also helps. We are both getting use to the boots but over all I love them and this k they do too. I would highly recommend these boots to anyone wanting to protect their dogs feet from the outside terrain. The first pair of boots wear the type like mittens. They didn't stand a chance and only lasted one day in the below zero temps ND gets, and the icy snow tore them up in seconds. These boots are totally awesome!
