Hitch Hiker™ Leash

Retractables are nice for certain things, like fetch, etc. but they're hard to hold on to if yanked. If your on a trail and need to be able to pull your dog back or give a correction at a moment's notice - they aren't the friendliest on your hands either.

I've struggled to find a leash that was slightly longer (without being a true long-line), that had a place to stow the excess line, have a means of securing it to yourself, while also having a means of adjusting the length securely (not having to just hold the line yourself or tying knots throughout it). This leash solved all those problems!

It will definitely be a staple in my hiking gear from now on.

The rope and hardware are all solid, the belay system is lovely!

Currently I've only tested it at home - haven't been able to test it on trail yet - but I have no doubt that it'll perform once I do.

I have two doodles and they love walking to the park everyday. It's nice that I can change the leash length depending on where we are going. If there's lots of people around, if I'm on the sidewalk or if I'm in a large open area in the park. You can let the leash get long very fast. It takes a little longer to shorten the leash but it's really easy. I have the ruffwear coupler attached to the hitch hiker leash so I can see the two dogs at the same time and keep them going in the same direction.

Very helpful for hands free walks, super easy to use!

We bought this for our black labs first backpacking trip. With three kids all our gear and a dog we have to be hands-free and this allows for quick and exact adjustments to his length when we pass other hikers, I especially like the ability to give him a little more freedom once we get to camp that it converts to a tie out. Super light and doesn’t get in the way of our hip belts on backpacks.
