Measurement is determined by your dog’s chest girth, measured around the widest part of the rib cage. Coverage may fit slightly shorter or longer depending on your dog’s proportions. If between sizes, size up for a more relaxed fit, or down for a more snug fit.

While each style of Ruffwear apparel is designed for its intended use, this guide generalizes our fits in three ways. The Swamp Cooler Zip™ is Formfitting with a zippered closure to keep the cooling effect close to the body.

Formfitting Regular Fit Relaxed Fit
Snug and conforms to the body’s contours. Can be worn standalone or layered under Relaxed apparel. Tailored with a bit of wiggle room. Can be worn standalone or layered under Relaxed apparel. A loose fit that drapes the body. Can be worn standalone or over Regular or Formfitting apparel. Works well for hard-to-fit dog shapes and sizes.

    Great.

    My 25lb dog is a black pug mix and has a short snout, so she overheats quickly. With this cooling vest (plus a water bottle to give her drinks and re-wet the vest) our hot summer walks are far safer and more enjoyable.

    Love this vest

    The RuffWear zip cooling vest fits under my dog's harness and really helps keep her cool. I feel like I can walk her when it is hotter outside with less worry now. Yesterday we went from trail to training just fine. I am grateful for such a well-made product!

    Best Summer Purchase

    My 30# dog now has help getting through the Texas heat. Dip it in water, zip it on and the cooling vest does the rest. It's like turning down the heat of a hot-flavored enchilada. It gets her through an 85 degree walk. She doesn't wilt, but Sharlee still looks for the finish line. It's mama's little helper. So glad I purchased the dog vest!
